We had the questions asked, 'What the heck IS Magnesium Oil, how do I use it and how often can I use it?' in our Aviv International Dead Sea + CBD Apothecary one day by a very good client.
As I went into great detail about the wonders and benefits of Magnesium Oil, I realized there may be many others that may have these same questions, so I thought I'd write a quick blog about it today.
Magnesium is significant to our overall health and well-being. It aids with maintaining and regulating our energy levels, DNA synthesis, enzyme activity and balancing of minerals in our entire body. It is responsible for more than 18,000 functions in the human body.
Unfortunately, your body is unable to make magnesium, it MUST be obtained by outside sources such as your diet, supplements or topical application.
Things that cause a Magnesium Deficiency are Chronic Stress, Diuretics such as Caffeine, Alcohol + Blood Pressure Medications. The most common cause is DIET! A high intake of refined carbohydrates such as breads, cookies, cakes, cereals, pastas, and crackers - products that contain copious amounts of worthless calories that come from carbs/sugars that have very little to NO nutritional value whatsoever.
Symptoms of a Magnesium Deficiency can be extremely vague and difficult to pinpoint if you don't know what you are looking for.
One of the main symptoms is Depression. Feeling sad or apathetic. Anti-depressants are one of the #1 selling drugs in America today. Unfortunately, SSRI's are too often prescribed and not monitored. They can deplete your Folic Acid, B5 + B12 thus causing deeper depression issues.
Another symptom is Vasoconstriction - where the blood vessels in the body become spasmed, thus causing high blood pressure. This can lead to prescription BP meds that are diuretics that in turn deplete our magnesium levels.
A third symptom is loss of bone - Osteopenia or Osteoporosis. When this is diagnosed, HRT's are prescribed and they deplete your Folic Acid, B5 + B12 levels in turn causing depression issues, etc.
Fourth symptom - muscle spasms - from twitching eyelids to leg or calf cramps. In comes the NSAID's which can deplete the Iron, Vitamin C + Folic Acid which can contribute to inflammation and joint pain.
Fifth symptom - thickening of the blood which results in high blood pressure which increases your chances of strokes and heart disease. Then you're prescribed meds like Coumadin (Warfarin) and/or Plavix and they deplete your Vitamin K levels and that leads to bone loss.
Last but not least - increase in cholesterol. This leads to statin medications which lead to other forms of heart disease.
So what can you do to find out where your Magnesium Levels are? Ask your doctor to run a Magnesium Spectrocell test to determine what the magnesium levels are inside your cells.
If you don't want to go through the testing, but feel you may have a magnesium deficiency, try using Magnesium Oil topically for a few months.
Magnesium Chloride cannot be ingested and utilized by the body. It will act as a colon cleanser only. Absorption through the skin is the BEST way to obtain it.
