I'd recommend using windy.com if you want to check weather conditions across a wide area easily and quickly. That would be a good resource to check daily weather conditions to see if I80 is a safe option. Weather conditions can change quickly, and honestly there might be some days where I40 has worse weather than I80 since these things can be fairly localized. I'd say just check conditions before you leave and... Source: 3 months ago
Windy.com looks pretty cool. But just wondering if there is one specifically made to be a "weather station". Source: 5 months ago
The Windy app lets you choose from 5 models. It's also usable at https://windy.com . Learned about this app from KPIX meteorologist Darren Peck, who sometimes uses it during his on-air segments. Source: 6 months ago
Here's a reading Aug 15 at 6:19pm. Well the air outside absolutely sucks today. Filled with smoke. Going on windy.com and clicking air quality, then PM2.5 we see a huge cloud coming down from the north and of course we have a north wind today. There are 2 huge fires in northern Alberta. https://www.windy.com/-PM2-5-pm2p5?cams,pm2p5,55.553,-100.327,5,m:fcAadg7. Source: 7 months ago
Low wind is the key to my greatest paddles. I really like the Windy app. Mornings are generally more calm both for the water's surface and for fewer people up. 8am is generally my target time to be on the water. Source: 9 months ago
I recently bought Windy.app and found that my friend sailing is using Windy.com. Apparently Windy.com used to be windity or something, then windy.app came into play in 2015, then windity changed their name to windy.com in 2017 and it's confusing when... Source: 12 months ago
Thanks! And are you referring to windy.com or windy.app? Both have apps and websites lol. Source: about 1 year ago
We mostly sail "inshore" and use windy.app (Link to avoid confusion since there are two). And navionics. Source: over 1 year ago
The Windy app (https://windy.app/) may also help you to predict where/when in Tampa Bay the storms are gonna hit - wherever the winds converge, that's where the storms develop. Source: over 1 year ago
