I'd recommend using windy.com if you want to check weather conditions across a wide area easily and quickly. That would be a good resource to check daily weather conditions to see if I80 is a safe option. Weather conditions can change quickly, and honestly there might be some days where I40 has worse weather than I80 since these things can be fairly localized. I'd say just check conditions before you leave and... Source: 3 months ago
Windy.com looks pretty cool. But just wondering if there is one specifically made to be a "weather station". Source: 5 months ago
The Windy app lets you choose from 5 models. It's also usable at https://windy.com . Learned about this app from KPIX meteorologist Darren Peck, who sometimes uses it during his on-air segments. Source: 6 months ago
Here's a reading Aug 15 at 6:19pm. Well the air outside absolutely sucks today. Filled with smoke. Going on windy.com and clicking air quality, then PM2.5 we see a huge cloud coming down from the north and of course we have a north wind today. There are 2 huge fires in northern Alberta. https://www.windy.com/-PM2-5-pm2p5?cams,pm2p5,55.553,-100.327,5,m:fcAadg7. Source: 7 months ago
For a very good overview on current wind directions, check windfinder.com. Source: 9 months ago

A swimmer asked me the exact same question after I gave a talk recently on open water swimming around the Greek island of Crete. I start from Google Earth to measure the distances and check windfinder.com for the local wind conditions and forecasts. However, as I say in Crete Swim, "Avoid wishful thinking. Your swimming conditions are not what they are “supposed to be”—they are nothing more or less than what is... Source: 10 months ago
For no bullshit weather forecast: windfinder.com. I learned about it when I learned sailing. But since then I started using it as my standard weather website, because it gives you precise by-the-hour forecast for the next couple days without all the bullshit you have on usual weather websites. Naxos should be nice! In July and August there may be days with strong winds from the north/northwest. The flatter water to swim in will be from beaches that are south-facing. You can check the current wind and forecasts at windy.com or windfinder.com. Often (but not always) the mornings are calmest and the wind will build in strength during the day. You might even be tempted to learn windsurfing or kitesurfing... Source: about 1 year ago
