Watch my SSL is built on AWS Lambda for scalability and reliability, using Python on the backend and simple basic HTML on the frontend, with some minimal JavaScript for the interactions, since the bulk of the work is done on the backend.
Watch my SSL's answer
As a SaaS developer, I maintain multiple websites, each with different technologies and infrastructure types underneath. While they're all on auto-renew cycles for their SSL certificates, stuff happens now and then, and more than once we've woken up to user complaints about one of our websites not being accessible to our users. Sure enough, it was an expired SSL certificate, and the fix was simple, but not without losing all our traffic in the meantime, and the trust of our users. In order to prevent this from happening again, we created an external service to monitor our certificates. Since we realized that others might be on the same boat, we decided to make it a public service available to anyone.

I just launched https://watchmyssl.com to track the expiration date of my websites' SSL certificates, so they don't go dark without me noticing. It's happened a few times in some of my websites, and it's super frustrating. Source: 6 months ago
Hi everyone, earlier this week I launched https://watchmyssl.com as a way to track the expiration date of my websites' SSL certificates, so they don't go dark without me noticing. It's happened a few times in some of my websites, and it's super frustrating to consider how many visitors I may have lost until I (or more frequently a potential customer) noticed. That still means the back-up method requires AWS services to be up. AWS is blessed with an interesting problem: using AWS is widespread enough that it would be hard for them to guarantee a third-party hosting their status page did not depend on them in some way. For 99.999% of companies, buying a SaaS like statuspage.io is sufficient to make sure your downtime doesn't take down your status page provider. - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago
I signed up for reports from statuspage.io which tends to spam me with network updates, but I like to see that that they are really working on it from hour to hour so I'm happy to get the spam. It's just ironic that I posted this and got the API issues email within minutes. Source: over 2 years ago
We setup a statuspage.io account a year back or so and push some aggregated metrics to indicate current service/system status. Best part is we can post updates to any outage / issue and it gets mailed to anyone who subscribed. Source: over 2 years ago
