The video revolution that started in the mid-2000s has stalled-out, with the very platform that started it alienating viewers and creators alike. Utreon is the first credible challenge to the status quo, with a focus on innovative features, community engagement, reasonable policies, and privacy.

Utreon is still in the Beta phase as of June of 2021. So comparing it to Vimeo is like comparing a pedigree puppy to a full blown show dog. Utreon's strength is in its potential.
To be honest, YouTube is not only a platform where you can watch /download the video ,but a wonderful field where you can share and grow personally and help oher people to flourish through sharing your vision , art ,creativity ,etc.
I like the idea of YouTube serving as a search engine and an entertaining feat
Based on our record, YouTube seems to be a lot more popular than Utreon. While we know about 1721 links to YouTube, we've tracked only 6 mentions of Utreon. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
I wrote an article on Medium on Utreon, a free-speech YouTube alternative that is currently in beta, but you can send a proper email to the people in charge to set up your channel on their platform. They can even sync your YouTube channel to the platform with your videos being copied over to their platform in case anything happens on YouTube. If you want to try it out, here is the url: https://utreon.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
I've seen some movement (e.g Forgotten Weapons) towards Utreon, which combines patreon-style subscription with video hosting. Source: almost 2 years ago
Now that the dislike button has been removed, for anyone thinking now is a good time to leave YouTube, there’s a platform called Ultreon with a user interface very similar to YouTube’s, especially from 2014-2016ish, with almost none of the restrictions. No ad support at this time but they are working on acquiring that and only need more users on their website Https://utreon.com. Source: over 2 years ago
I think I found today what I am looking for. https://utreon.com/ looks to be a close contender to what I seek. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
Utreon.com could be an option. One thing is, my ad blockers run so deep that if they are throwing ads willy-nilly onto videos I would likely not be able to tell, same as youtube. Source: almost 3 years ago
Looking at their YouTube, their recent videos don't have exactly low view count, but also not as high as I would expect, given how costly they must be https://youtube.com/@VICE I guess they were really a product of a different time. - Source: Hacker News / 5 days ago
3 words. "Geoff Lawton videos." You know, that Strine permaculture guy. Watch at least 15 to 20 of them. Many are short. Only then talk, people. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Lawton https://youtube.com/@DiscoverPermaculture?si=XVjdWpJk5ZIVTnLP https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strine. - Source: Hacker News / 6 days ago
Not directly related but Disney has a YouTube channel that irregularly posts interesting developments related to animation and tracking. https://youtube.com/@DisneyResearchHub?si=m-oZwc8hODjHpcPS. - Source: Hacker News / 17 days ago
Big George Hotz enjoyer but lately I’ve been trying to catch every stream from this guy “tokyospliff” - https://youtube.com/@tokyospliff He does graphics programming, writing his own game engine from in C++ using OpenGL. The vibe in his streams is really something else, very interesting guy. - Source: Hacker News / 21 days ago
Dave Plummer but I’m way beyond the median age for HN. Would appreciate similar recommendations. People like Theo-t3.gg are way too manic and high energy for me. https://youtube.com/@DavesGarage?feature=shared. - Source: Hacker News / 21 days ago
