  • Modelling a bathroom, should every tile be a component?
Give Quixel Mixer a go; pretty intuitive and can get great results. Source: 12 months ago
  • What programs do I use to create custom NPCs/characters/3D assets in Unreal Engine 5?
Quixel Mixer is the texturing system from the makers of Megascans, who are now owned by Epic and so most of their stuff is free for UE users. Really nice for building textures based on the Megascans library. Source: over 1 year ago
  • One day, I'll own a classic MG. For now, I'll settle with a 3D modelled one (pics in comment)
To me, the real strength of Painter is the use of its baked maps to control effects like dust or ambient occlusion, and obviously the ability to paint details directly on the mesh with a workflow similar to Photoshop's. If detailing is what you're after, I'd definitely recommend to try it out, or have a look at it's free alternative : quixel mixer. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Does Mark Zuckerberg Not Understand How Bad His Metaverse Looks?
If you want to save yourself some hassle with having to work on a 3d texture in purely 2d space, I've heard Quixel Mixer is good, and free. I have not used it, I myself use substance painter. Source: over 1 year ago

Armor Paint mentions (17)

  • Best practice workflow for importing objects from Blender to Unreal
A lot of people use Substance Painter (or other tools - thinking of trying out Armor Paint at some point) to make the textures separately after making the mesh and UVs in Blender. It's definitely possible to do texturing and so on within Blender as well, but I personally haven't found a good workflow for this yet for producing high-quality results. Source: 7 months ago
  • KDE and GNOME seek $100k to turn Flathub into a store for the Linux desktop
One of the best examples of this is Armorpaint an open source texture painting tool. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Texturing Programs
ArmorPaint - haven't used that one, but it looks promissing. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Getting into modding
    - Snowrunner Game - from either steam or epic games - Text Editor - I use atom from GitHub (https://atom.io/) - 3D modelling Software - I use Blender (https://www.blender.org/download/) - Texturing Software - I use ArmorPaint (https://armorpaint.org/) - Image Software that can open and edit tga files - I use Affinity Designer (https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/) - File zip Software - I use 7zip... • How can I make this higher quality? I want ppl to think it’s real.
ArmorPaint is supposed to be pretty cool. If you want to make more procedural materials, MaterialMaker seems decent. I was actually starting to write my own app until I found that one. Source: over 1 year ago
