  • New Art Platforms for Artists and the death of old ones?
I'm very interested in how they'll keep AI-generated images out though. I don't think trained ML models for verifying/falsifying images as AI-generated will be that useful for very long as AI image generation models will keep improving too. More likely we'll have to resort to a 'proof of work' sort of thing which could be a mandatory speedpaint/timelapse or a straight-up automated solution like Ibispaint. Source: about 1 year ago
  • AI Art Detection Tools?
Most illustration software e.g. Photoshop or Krita have integrated or plugin-based recording functionality for that too. And then there is Ibispaint (check it out) which tracks your progress and doesn't even let you upload to the gallery on their website without the automatically generated speedpaint. • Regulating AI art will be a disaster
What we need is positive proof for hand-drawn digital paintings. Rather than innocent until proven guilty it should be guilty until proven innocent. The best possible approach would be recording the painting process in the drawing software automatically like this website for instance: https://ibispaint.com/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • (Discussion) On the topic of verifying digital paintings/illustrations in the age of AI image generation...
Iirc Photoshop and Krita for instance have a tool for recording integrated into their software but I've also come across the software/platform Ibispaint which automatically tracks the creation process in their software from the moment you create a new file and if you upload it to their website (which is a sort of art gallery in itself) it will automatically generate and upload a 1-minute speedpaint along with... • Gimp 2.99.18 Released: The Last Development Preview Before 3.0
I’ve been using Krita for a year or so now. At first I found the UI very confusing, but after learning the top bar is just as important as the side bar it really works. YouTube videos of pros using it will blow your mind. It’s really powerful. https://krita.org/en/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 days ago

Through the years I've learned how to use some Open Source design tools like Inkscape, GIMP and Krita. Looks like it'll work, mint is Ubuntu/Debian based and I know there are drawing pads out there that work well with Mint also. If you like drawing, I'd suggest checking out Krita. Source: 3 months ago

  • Paint on Windows is getting layers and transparency support
The current Paint.NET is really good and obviously has much more features compared to since the version from 2009. But it's not FOSS which can be a deal breaker for some. If FOSS then Pinta [0] is the best option imo. GIMP is not bad either but feels very janky and all over the place sometimes (lacking some elementary features while overblown in other departments) Krita [1] is the other one I'd recommend though... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
