  If you have the budget give getmyboat.com a try, however many larger vessels are located in lake Ontario and will require a trip down the welland canal and of course dealing with customs. • Bareboat Charter destination suggestions in the States

  Thanks. I checked out getmyboat.com ... There are 6 sailboats available for the entire SF bay, and they are all captained charters (half day or hourly). Same in the San Juans -- 4 available. So not exactly 'airbnb for boats'... Maybe there are other regions that offer bareboat. Source: over 1 year ago

  My family rented from a website that id call the airbnb of boats.. boatsetter.com. We got a triple hulled pontoon boat in slidell and that thing hauled ass.. Much more fun than I would have given it credit for and the whole family was able to ride. No operator will send out an inexperienced captain on the river, even if you know what you are doing the river can be tricky, and dangerous if you do not have wheel time.
