Not the person you’re replying to but CleanShotX [0] is my favorite tool for this. Yes macOS has improved their screenshot annotation tools but they suck compared to CleanShotX. I take way more screenshots now to covey information and it’s invaluable to quickly explain a UI. I make guides for work or my clients with it all the time. I use it to highlight the button they need to click, label “1”, “2”, “3”, for the... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
Absolutely - Especially because Screenshot software has come a _long_ way CleanShotX[1] is one of - if not _the_ best - piece of software I've ever payed for. It does one thing, and does it extremely well. 1. https://cleanshot.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago

No, it's taking a screenshot of the browser's content, then adding padding to the surrounding image, and letting you pick a colour for it. Screenshot Software like Cleanshot X and Xnapper have this feature built in, either as a default or as a customisable setting. They're basically making it unnecessary to use a third-party screenshot tool to achieve the same effect. Why would you want it? I have no clue.... Source: 3 months ago
I'm in search of a straightforward tool that allows me to create aesthetically pleasing short explainer videos to showcase various features of my SaaS product. For context, the kind of quality I am aiming for can be seen at Figma's What's New or CleanShot's homepage. Source: 5 months ago

The web-version is easy for copy and pasting. In apps, I always use the auto-scroll capture, from Cleanshot X (Mac). Source: 8 months ago
I'm using self-developed app MindMac daily to talk with ChatGPT, Proxyman to capture network, TablePlus to access databases and CleanshotX to take screenshots. All of them are currently in an active status. Source: 8 months ago

If you're talking about Cleanshot X (https://cleanshot.com/), I'm using that multiple times a day for providing support on Lunar (https://lunar.fyi/) and my other apps through:- Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago- annotated screenshots* of the app UI (e.g. On https://lunar.fyi/faq#bad-ddc).
I like Cleanshot for Mac, or Droplr for Windows. I use Cleanshot to walk my clients through the CRM and photo gallery. Source: 12 months ago
I churned with Loom too because I don't need the storage part and was looking for an alternative. I like the idea of an open-source Loom alternative. However, if anyone is looking, I found out that an old software I was using, Cleanshot[1], added the feature to record your webcam and screen with their recent update. I have started using it again. For the upload part (I don't use their cloud), either using Dropbox... - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago

I'm using "Page Screenshot for Safari" from time to time – it's not bad. Of course, CleanShot X is screenshot king ;). Source: about 1 year ago
Cleanshot X I'm a product designer. I spend a significant amount of time taking screenshots—dropping them in Figma, slacking them to PMs and annotating them for engineers. The tool keeps screenshots suspended on your desktop until you decide what to do with them—save, annotate or copy it to clipboard. It doesn't save the screenshots if you don't want it to, so it prevents a ton of clutter. Not to mention it has... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
On a Mac, for ad-hoc OCR, I use the immensely useful CleanShot X https://cleanshot.com/ (which is well worth paying for). This does OCR of any region on the screen for larger-scale processing of pdfs and other files, I love how s3-ocr https://simonwillison.net/2022/Jun/30/s3-ocr/ makes working with AWS Textract OCR more accessible (though, somehow, Textract refuses to fully OCR larger pdfs I possess..). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Sometimes I need to record a meeting at work, but MacOS doesn't allow to recordo the system audio. So I was searching for a solution and found many of them and one in particular called my attention: CleanShot X. Source: over 1 year ago
And if you are on Mac and you use it professionally (or even for personal use depending on your budget), you need to check out CleanShotX. Apple’s screenshot annotation tools have come a long way BUT CleanShot’s are far superior, like it’s no contest. They have some of the same tools but CleanShot’s are consistently easier to use and it’s easier to edit the other annotations you’ve already made. Source: over 1 year ago
